Xavier Garcia Albiol puts an end to 32 years of leftist municipal governments, being the first major city ruled by the Ciu PP. assumed the mayoralties of 30 Catalan comarca capital. More than one hundred outraged have concentrated opposite the town hall to loudly express their protest. Badalona, the third city in Catalonia by number of inhabitants, has capitalized this Saturday on the attention of the Constitution of the Catalan town halls to have been made with the mayoral candidate of the PPC, Xavier Garcia Albiol, who has also put end to 32 years of municipal governments on the left in this city. Badalona has become the first great Catalan city ruled by the PP, which has also been mayor of another city of the metropolitan area of Barcelona, Castelldls, where has Manuel Reyes been proclaimed Mayor thanks to the abstention of CiU. CiU has been the political force that has assumed the mayoralties of the vast majority of the Catalan comarca capitals, with a total of 30 (16 more than in the previous municipal legislature), for seven of the PSC (less 12), ERC 3 (3 less) and one that gets ICV-EUiA. Tension in the investiture of Albiol in Badalona, the investiture of Garcia Albiol has not been free of tension and more than one hundred outraged have concentrated opposite the town hall to protest loudly.

Albiol, who campaigned very hard against immigration in which handed out leaflets that allegedly link the crime with the Romanian Gypsies, has returned to say that he didn’t know if they had more or less problems of insecurity than in other municipalities in Badalona, but has emphasized that it cares little and what he sees that happens in some areas of the city not like. In Tarragona, Josep Felix Ballesteros Socialist has been awarded Mayor for second consecutive term, with the votes in favour of the 12 councilmen obtained by the PSC in the municipal elections of May 22. In Lleida, as planned, Angel Ros (PSC) has been re-elected mayor by an absolute majority in the first ballot.
